General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows company best practice standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate performs a range of tasks in all areas of the store as business needs require and may be asked to perform additional tasks to achieve customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

  • Safety is the number one priority; practice safe behaviors at all times.
  • Maintain a high level of floor awareness to create a safe shopping environment; keep exits clear and report any unsafe conditions.
  • Treat customers and associates with respect and courtesy; recognize fellow Associates using company recognition programs.
  • Assist Customers (register-trained) with merchandise and questions; greet customers with eye contact, a smile, and a polite greeting; say thank you at every register transaction.
  • Provide prompt and efficient responses to Customer service requests; respond immediately to service calls and escalate to Store Leadership when needed.
  • Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
  • Perform cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters/mirrors, restocking restrooms, disinfecting high-touch areas) to maintain merchandise, customer and team areas.
  • Maintain professional appearance and adhere to dress code.
  • Perform daily sizing and recovery to ensure a neat, clean, and organized store aligned to standards.
  • Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor; merchandise items per monthly presentation guidelines and maintain brand familiarity within departments.
  • Understand Loss Prevention Awareness, Shortage Highway, Store Protection Specialist role where applicable, and general merchandise protection standards.
  • Demonstrate integrity and honesty in all interactions; safeguard confidential information, cash and credit card data.
  • Follow MOS policies, process MOS merchandise correctly, and notify Store Leadership for reviews/approvals of disposals.
  • Follow policies concerning cash, checks, card transactions, refunds, voids and offline procedures; maintain accuracy with bankable tenders.
  • Show urgency and maximize productivity by following Store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

  • Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative and pleasant manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements / ADA

  • Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PC as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the store up to 100% of working time.
  • Ability to bend at the waist, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
  • Ability to occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.
  • Associates who work Stockroom shifts: ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.

The base pay range for this role is $16.50 - $17.00. The base pay range is dependent on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, qualifications, and location. This range is one component of the total compensation package.
