General Purpose
The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows all company best practice standards, maintains a clean work area at all times, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Retail Associate is expected to be engaged in these tasks during all working hours and will perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require. The Associate may be requested to perform additional tasks in specific situations to help achieve Customer service and operational goals.
Essential Functions
- Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
- Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keeps egress clear and reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
- Treats all Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; is friendly and professional at all times. Recognizes fellow Associates using Company recognition programs.
- Assists Customers as needed; is register-trained, assists with merchandise, and answers questions in a polite and knowledgeable manner. Greets Customers with eye contact, smiles, and says hello throughout the Store and thanks them at the register.
- Provides prompt and efficient responses to Customers; responds to Customer Service calls immediately and handles issues courteously, involving Store Leadership when needed.
- Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
- Performs cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors, replenishing restroom supplies) and disinfects high-touch areas to maintain merchandise, customer and Team areas.
- Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the Company's dress code.
- Performs daily sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, clean, and well-merchandised to standards.
- Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor, adheres to monthly presentation guidelines, and maintains brand name familiarity within departments to assist Customers.
- Understands the Loss Prevention Awareness program, MOS policies, and merchandise protection standards (where applicable).
- Demonstrates integrity and honesty in all interactions; safeguards confidential information, cash and credit card information, and merchandise.
- Follows MOS policies, proper processing, and notification of leadership for disposals.
- Follows policies and procedures concerning cash, checks, charge cards, refunds, voids and offline procedures; maintains accuracy when handling bankable tenders.

Qualifications and Special Skills
- Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful and cooperative manner.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.
Physical Requirements / ADA
- Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PCs as required.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around the Store for up to 100% of working time.
- Ability to regularly bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
- Ability to occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.
- Some assignments may require additional qualifications and skills.
- Stockroom shifts: ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds.

The base pay range for this role is $16.50 - $17.00, dependent on factors including experience, skills, qualifications, education, certifications, seniority, and location. This range is one component of the total compensation package.
