General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring customers have a positive shopping experience. They greet customers, maintain a clean work area, present merchandise, follow company standards, and perform a range of tasks across store areas as needed to meet customer service and operational goals. Additional tasks may be assigned as required.

Essential Functions

  • Safety is the priority; practice safe behaviors and maintain a safe shopping environment.
  • Maintain awareness on the sales floor; keep egress clear and report any unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treat customers and associates with respect and professionalism; acknowledge customers with eye contact and a greeting.
  • Assist customers, be register-trained, respond to questions in a courteous and knowledgeable manner, and handle returns and transactions accurately.
  • Respond promptly to customer service needs and escalate to Store Leadership when needed.
  • Represent and support the company brand at all times.
  • Perform cleaning tasks and replenish restroom supplies to maintain store appearance; disinfect high-touch areas as needed.
  • Maintain professional appearance and adhere to dress code.
  • Execute daily merchandising and recovery tasks to keep the store neat and organized per guidelines.
  • Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor; merchandise items per monthly guidelines and help customers with product knowledge.
  • Understand Loss Prevention awareness and merchandise protection standards.
  • Demonstrate integrity and safeguard confidential information and merchandise.
  • Follow MOS (Markdown-Out-of-Stock) policies and accurate cash handling procedures.
  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency and maximize productivity by following best practices.

Qualifications and Special Skills

  • Clear communication with customers, associates, and store leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
  • Ability to perform basic retail mathematics.

Physical Requirements / ADA

  • Ability to use store equipment including registers and PDTs.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move for up to 100% of shift; ability to bend, squat, reach, and lift up to 25 pounds (some roles may require up to 20 pounds in stockroom).
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment and ladders as needed.
