General Purpose
The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows all company best practice standards, maintains a clean work area at all times, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may be asked to perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require and may be assigned additional tasks to help achieve customer service and operational goals.
Essential Functions
- Safety is the number one priority; practices safe behaviors in all duties
- Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe shopping environment; keep egress clear and report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership
- Treat customers and associates with respect; recognize fellow associates using Company recognition programs
- Assist customers as needed — register-trained, help with merchandise, answer questions politely and knowledgeably; greet customers with eye contact, a smile, and a friendly "hello" and say "thank you" at every register transaction
- Provide prompt and efficient responses to customers and respond to service calls immediately; escalate to Store Leadership when needed
- Represent and support the Company brand at all times
- Perform cleaning tasks to maintain a neat store and replenish supplies as needed
- Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the dress code
- Perform daily sizing and recovery to ensure a neat, clean, and organized store
- Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandise items per monthly presentation guidelines
- Understand Loss Prevention programs and merchandise protection standards
- Safeguard confidential information, cash, and merchandise
- Follow MOS policies for merchandise, processing, and disposals notifications
- Handle cash, checks, and refunds with accuracy and awareness
- Demonstrate urgency and maximize productivity by following store best practices

Qualifications And Special Skills Required
- Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments
Physical Requirements/Ada
- Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDAs, registers and PCs as required
- Ability to spend up to 100% of working time standing, walking, and moving around the Store
- Ability to regularly bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop
- Ability to occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds
- Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies
- Certain assignments may require other qualifications and skills
- Associates who work Stockroom shifts: ability to regularly push, pull and lift more than 20 pounds

The base pay range for this role is $15.49 - $15.99. The base pay range is dependent on factors including experience, skills, qualifications, relevant education, certifications, seniority, and location. The range listed is one component of the total compensation package; other rewards vary by position and location.
