Role Description

We are seeking a full-time on-site Accountant located in Virginia Beach, VA. The Accountant will be responsible for managing financial records, preparing financial statements, conducting audits, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. Daily tasks will include reconciling accounts, managing budgets, and providing financial analysis. The Accountant will also support month-end and year-end close processes while collaborating with our teams at The Miller Group, Trident Civil, and Balicore to ensure streamlined financial operations across all divisions.

Job Duties

• Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
• Support the month-end and year-end close processes by performing account reconciliations and preparing journal entries.
• Assist in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts, monitoring variances to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
• Conduct financial analysis and reporting to identify trends and provide insights for decision-making.
• Contribute to the preparation of profit and loss statements and other financial reports.
• Ensure the integrity of financial data in accounting software and develop procedures to maintain data accuracy and quality.
• Assist with audits and provide necessary documentation and support to external auditors.
• Prepare and distribute regular and ad hoc reports to management and stakeholders on time.
• Collaborate with various departments to assist with financial information requests and special projects as assigned.
• Perform all other duties as assigned that relate to the company's daily operations.

Preferred Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in accounting and/or finance is required
• 2+ years of experience in finance or corporate/private accounting
• Experience within the real estate development, construction, and equipment sectors is beneficial

Technical and Professional Skills

• Strong organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to adapt to changing situations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) and accounting software.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and multi-tasking skills.
• Familiarity with construction accounting software (e.g., Procore, Sage Intacct) is a plus but not required.
