The State Preservation Board (SPB) preserves, maintains, and restores the State Capitol and the 1857 General Land Office, which houses the Capitol Visitors Center. Since that time, agency operations have expanded to include care of the Governor's Mansion, operating the Bullock Texas State History Museum, Texas State Cemetery, Capitol Mall, and three Capitol Complex legislative office buildings. We provide educational programs centered on Texas history, government, and culture for the citizens of Texas and its visitors. Position Summary

The Retail Accountant reports to the Chief Accountant and takes direction from both the Chief Accountant and the Chief Financial Officer. This position is responsible for performing moderately complex accounting duties, including maintaining, preparing, posting, and reconciling financial and budgetary statements, records, documents, and reports. The role may focus on specific areas such as federal funds accounting, property and equipment control, cost accounting, or budgeting. The Retail Accountant is expected to meet deadlines and deliver accurate outcomes while performing all duties with a calm, professional demeanor. A high level of customer service is essential in all business interactions. This position requires an individual who is results-driven and able to work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team. Strong judgment, organization, flexibility, and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively are critical. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are essential, as is maintaining a respectful, professional, and service-oriented approach when interacting with employees, vendors, visitors, and the public.
