We’re seeking a sharp and highly analytical Payroll Accounting Consultant for a contract role with a leading organization. This position plays a key role in reviewing payroll ledger activity, ensuring financial integrity across multiple business units. The ideal candidate is a polished, confident communicator who thrives in high-visibility work and can confidently present to executive leadership.

Responsibilities:

• Perform comprehensive audits of payroll-related general ledger activity, including reconciliations, accrual entries, and necessary adjustments
• Conduct detailed forensic reviews of payroll and benefits transactions spanning several entities
• Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to document workflows and pinpoint control weaknesses
• Lead reconciliation efforts for payroll transactions across a centralized banking unit and multiple partner associations
• Identify opportunities for process optimization and contribute to compliance initiatives
  
  
  

Qualifications:

• 3–5 years of accounting experience, ideally with a payroll or general ledger focus
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required
• Previous involvement in audit or forensic accounting projects is highly preferred
• Solid understanding of payroll systems; experience with Oracle or ADP is a strong advantage
• Exceptional attention to detail, critical thinking skills, and a drive for process improvement
• Professional presence with the ability to confidently engage with executive stakeholders
  
  
  

Compensation: $35-$50/hour

Salary is based on a range of factors that include relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications.
