Department: Security

Title: Security Guard

Employment Type: Seasonal

Status: Non-Exempt

Grade Level: Hourly

Pay: $16.50 per hour

Reports To: Supervisor

Schedule: Must be able to work weekends and holidays; weekday hours also available

Hours: 9:30 am - 6:30 pm, schedule subject to change through spring and summer due to Department needs. Must be able to perform overtime when needed.

Position Summary

Security Guards ensure that staff, guests, and animal collections enjoy a safe experience at Wildlife Conservation Society parks.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Presenting professionalism in uniform while assisting guests seeking information, medical assistance, or other aid in a courteous manner
• Communicating clearly using a portable radio
• Following instructions from Security Management and other authorities
• Completing the Security Officer's Daily Activity Report
• Remaining at fixed posts, roving designated areas, and monitoring entry/exit points as needed
• Monitoring building conditions for overcrowding, disorderly persons, and prohibited items inside exhibits
• Completing other assignments as required and assisting team members

Qualification Requirements

Must possess a valid New York State Security License, a valid 8-hour & 16-hour training certificate, basic communication skills, a neat appearance, dependability, basic math and computer skills.
