Status: Non-Exempt

Grade Level: Hourly

Pay: $16.50 per hour

Reports To: Supervisor

Schedule: Must be able to work weekends and holidays; weekday hours also available. Hours: 9:30 am-6:30 pm, schedule subject to change through the spring and summer due to Needs of the Department. Must be able to perform overtime when needed.

Position Summary: Security Guards ensure that our staff, guests, and animal collection enjoy a safe experience at Wildlife Conservation Society parks.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Presenting professionalism in uniform while assisting guests that are seeking information, medical assistance or other aid and in a courteous manner
• Communicating clearly using a portable radio
• Following instructions and orders from Security Management and other competent authority
• Completing the Security Officer's Daily Activity Report
• Will be required to remain at a fixed post, a roving post covering a designated area and entrance/exit gates, as needed
• Monitoring building conditions for overcrowding, disorderly persons and prohibited items inside exhibits.
• Completing other assignments as required and helping others on the team.

Qualification Requirements

Qualifications:

Must possess a valid New York State Security License

Must possess a valid 8 hour & 16 hour training certificate

Basic verbal communication skills

Presenting a neat, clean and professional appearance

Dependability and reliability

Basic math skills

Basic computer skills
