Overview

Join Covenant Living Communities and Services as a Security Guard. Covenant Living is part of a nationwide family of Continuing Care Retirement Communities. This position is responsible for security of the campus, all campus vehicles, residents and staff. Security responsibilities include policing the buildings and grounds and responding to all emergencies on the campus during the security shift.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergency call system.
• Evaluate the need to notify on-call personnel when necessary and follow designated procedures supporting on-call personnel as required.
• In emergency situations, call 911 and ensure connection with responding emergency personnel.
• Check and secure all security equipment, complete scheduled patrols of entire campus.
• Check and secure all exterior doors in all buildings.
• Be on alert and challenge any/all trespassers on campus property.
• Monitor all vehicle traffic and help maintain all traffic policies.
• Be familiar with the entire campus, equipment areas, campus phone system, emergency fire equipment/panels, emergency pendant system and follow all appropriate procedures.
• Be familiar with utility shut-off locations and reset HVAC chiller system when not operating; familiar with fire detector indicator panel locations and shut-off/reset procedures.
• Write and distribute appropriate reports for all incidents.
• Report safety hazards and file maintenance requests in WorxHub.
• Provide maintenance/housekeeping services at the direction of leadership staff on an emergency basis.
• Provide non-emergency residential services that do not conflict with the main security purpose.

Qualifications

• High school education.
• Two years of security or related experience.
• Current state driver’s license (CDL preferred) and a good driving record.
• First aid certification and experience in emergency medical situations.
• Ability to read and write in English and communicate with other employees and residents.
• Good interpersonal skills; ability to project a friendly personality, demonstrate customer service and team-building concepts, and work with people, especially the elderly.
• Ability to follow oral and written directions.
• Good observational skills.
• Flexibility and adaptability to changing conditions.
• For California candidates, must maintain a valid and current California Security License.

Compensation

Pay range: $14.23 - $16.95 per hour.

A reasonable estimate of the pay range for this position is $14.23 - $16.95 per hour. Factors in determining the actual offered rate include job-related qualifications, experience, skills, education, geographic location, and internal/external equity.
