Ministerial Character

The Pastor is the visible principle and foundation of unity in the Parish (St. Albert the Great Catholic Church), entrusted to him by the Bishop. He makes Christ’s mission present and enduring in the parish. To fulfill his mission, the Pastor employs suitable, chosen collaborators (clerics, religious, or lay people). He shares his mission with them and entrusts various responsibilities.

Essential Job Duties

  • Support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic ministry and the mission of St. Albert the Great Catholic Church in your professional and personal life.
  • Act as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • Participate in religious ceremonies, training sessions, and reflection activities as directed.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for parishioners.
  • Answer phones and assist with Baptism class sign-ups and booking Baptism dates.
  • Schedule mass intentions and maintain the mass intention list.
  • Schedule sanctuary candle intentions and maintain the sanctuary candle list.
  • Create and laminate signs as needed.
  • Enter membership forms in Ministry Platform and the Cathedral envelope system.
  • Assist with clerical endowment cards, mailing welcome cards, and addressing/labeling as needed.
  • Produce sacrament certificates of all types as needed.
  • Make copies, refill paper in copier, and keep the workroom clean and stocked.
  • Maintain inventory of office supplies and inform the Business Manager when supplies need to be ordered.
  • Assist in preparing mass notebooks for the weekend, including prayers of the faithful.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and Google Docs, Sheets, and products.
  • Knowledge of general office phone systems and equipment.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to create a welcoming environment.
  • Positive attitude, flexibility, dependability, and trustworthiness.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Minimum three years of relevant experience.
  • Proficient in English and Spanish (reading, speaking, writing).
  • Must be a practicing Roman Catholic in good standing.
  • Valid Texas driver’s license and compliance with the Diocese of Austin EIM policies.

Working Conditions

  • Engaged in ministry closely tied to the Pastor.
  • Fast-paced environment, working weekends, evenings, and some holidays.
  • Exposure to religious ceremonies and liturgical celebrations.
  • Adherence to dress codes and conduct standards.
