Under the direction of the Human Resources Manager, the HR Generalist functions as the support person for general human resources related matters. This position is responsible for supporting employee relations, benefits, recruiting, and a variety of other human resources functions. This position will provide support in the planning, analyzing and execution of policies, procedures, and programs.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with development and oversight of implementation of personnel policies and procedures
  • Interprets and applies established HR policies ensuring compliance with Federal and State employment laws
  • Coach, counsel and assist supervisors and staff regarding issues and concerns
  • Assist in conducting investigations and ensure timely and responsible resolution
  • Assist in maintaining and promoting a safe and healthy environment for employees
  • Ensure HR processes and procedures are consistently administered
  • Maintain HR database ensuring the accuracy of data and compiling of HR reports
  • Prepare government reports as required
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly reports
  • Keep abreast of employment law and current legislation in relation to HR
  • Represent the company for all unemployment hearings/claims
  • Manage the recruitment efforts including: reviewing job descriptions, placing job postings on applicable recruitment platforms, participate in interviews, evaluate applicant skills, and making recommendations regarding applicant's qualifications and skills
  • Develop and maintain relationships with universities and other recruitment sources
  • Participate and work collaboratively with the training team in the development and execution of new employee orientation programs and procedures for new hires
  • Track applicants and complete quarterly statistical information regarding new hires and the onboarding process
  • Assist with the processing of payroll
  • Participate in planning and execution of employee engagement events and activities
  • Serve as site subject matter expert for HRM systems
  • Onsite contact for employee benefit inquires including coordination of open enrollment process and new hire benefit orientation
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources or related field preferred; or combination of equivalent education and experience
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification preferred
  • 5 years of progressive HR experience, with at least 1-2 years in a manufacturing environment preferred.

Competencies

  • Working knowledge of employment laws, COBRA, FMLA, and related state and federal regulations.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to work on sensitive issues with discretion and a commitment to confidentiality.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple priorities.
  • Self-directed and motivated.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and travel (as needed).
  • Ability to work with a diverse population.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff.
  • Strong PC skills including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Working Conditions

  • Most of the job is performed in an office environment with some time spent on the plant manufacturing floor.
