Overview

HUMAN RESOURCES SPECIALIST - CADILLAC at NORTHERN LAKES COMMUNITY MENTAL HEALTH. Will assist in all human resource functions including recruitment, selection, benefits and compensation, and employee relations activities. Will extract data from existing systems (databases) to disseminate information and generate various reports.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Human Resources Specialist for the agency under the direction of the HR Officer (CHRO).
  • Responsible for all HR employee related functions for Cadillac, Houghton Lake, Grayling, Board Operated Homes.
  • Position requires periodic site visits to maintain HR presence with the workforce.
  • Attend interviews as an HR representative for all assigned locations and Board Operated Homes.
  • Perform complex and confidential functions, such as HR investigations and facilitating performance management meetings.
  • Conduct fingerprinting process for all Residential Care Aid (RCA) applicants and applicable workforce members.
  • Conduct criminal history checks on an annual basis for all RCA’s according to licensing rules.
  • Educate workforce members on the workers’ compensation claims process. Coordinate with payroll, comp carrier, workforce member and supervisor.
  • Maintain and update position descriptions.
  • Initiate and monitor performance appraisals for NLCMHA staff agency wide.
  • Maintain all RCA personnel files, open and closed, in accordance with policies and union contract.
  • Coordinate benefits and annual selection of life, health insurance, dental, and vision for annual open enrollment.
  • Administer Leave of Absences (LOA) in compliance with FMLA, STD, etc.
  • Coordinate benefits for COBRA eligible staff and retirees.
  • Responsible for administration of Workers’ Compensation and workplace accommodations.
  • Maintains OSHA 300A and time loss injury reporting as well as annual OSHA reporting.
  • Assist employees with the completion of Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) documentation.
  • Malpractice insurance billing alignment for contracted providers.
  • Provide coverage for all HR Specialist duties in absence of TC HR Specialist.
  • Manage petty cash funds for Cadillac office.
  • Update/distribute union seniority/call-in roster for RCA’s and employee listing of board operated homes for RCA’s.
  • Participate in assigned committees.
  • Reporting through Paychex.
  • Participate in policy review functions.
  • Assist with CARF and audits.
  • Assists HR Officer (CHRO) with employee relations and grievances relating to union and nonunion members.
  • Provide advice, counsel, and assistance on highly sensitive and complex issues.
  • Act as liaison with new workforce members.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree (required)
  • Bachelors degree in Human Resources/Business (preferred)
  • A minimum of two (2) to three (3) years of direct Human Resources experience (required)
  • HR Certification (preferred)

Pay

$53,270 - $60,270

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements

  • May require irregular hours.
  • May require travel by personal vehicle if an agency vehicle is not available.
