Job Summary

Diagnose and repair truck mounted hydraulic utility equipment such as ariel devices, digger derricks, cranes, specialty utility equipment including Altec, Terex, and other utility manufactured units.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Maintain and repair Aerial Devices, Digger Derricks and other equipment.

Determine overall condition of machines through inspections and diagnostics

Diagnose issues with hydraulic, electrical systems and chassis

Restore equipment to full working order.

Maintain accurate records of all service, repair and other work.

Able to remove and install hydraulic hoses, PTO, rotary joints, rotary gears, bearings, pumps, cylinders, oil/fuel tanks, hoses, valves, fittings, winches, pins, retainers, rotation bearing bolts, pads, swing drive gearbox, upper control handles, outrigger interlock valves, all hydraulic system components, tool circuit hoses, pole claw arms, auger release bracket and all other parts to be repaired or replaced on the aerial/boom.

Able to remove and install any components of brake systems including air brakes, brake pads, brake drum, S-cam, slack adjuster, air dryer, air compressor, check valve, etc.

Able to remove and install any components of air conditioning systems including receiver dryer, expansion valve, evaporator, blower motor, compressor, heater core, heater valves, o rings and seals, recharging a/c, etc.

Able to remove and install manual transmissions including clutches and flywheel.

Able to remove and install any components of diesel engines including injectors, turbo, fuel pump, water pump, thermostat, solenoid, pulleys, belts, etc.

Able to remove and install radiators and charge air coolers including fan clutch, blades, hoses, clamps, etc.

Must have a solid understanding of all the above to include but not limited to Air Conditioning, Hydraulics, Driveline, Drivetrain, Electrical, Engine, Power Steering, PTO

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Five or more years of experience in the utility mechanic field is required.

Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

Exhibit positive and effective interaction with vendors and customers.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Excellent organization and time management skills.

High level of professionalism and integrity.

Ability to make decisions.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a shop environment.

Physical dexterity is required. Ability to lift up to 75 pounds including service-related tools.

Substantial movements of the hands, wrists, and/or fingers.

Travel is required and schedules will vary based on current needs. Overtime work may be required on a needed basis.

Required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures or viewing a computer screen.
