Purpose

The mechanic inspects, maintains, and repairs vehicles and machinery. This position should have an advanced knowledge of mechanical systems, electrical components, and diagnostic tools to diagnose problems and perform complex and/or major mechanical, and electrical equipment repairs. The mechanic performs work in shop and field environments.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the inspection and repairs of vehicles (diesel and gas) and machinery. To include, but not limited to: Fleet of trucks, forklift/telehandlers, mini excavators/backhoes, ATVs, off-road vehicles, and custom-built buggies.
  • Able to diagnose issues to assess vehicles and machinery to accurately identify problems.
  • Repair and replace but not limited to brakes, AC, electrical, steering, fuel, suspension, transmissions, and other associated parts.
  • Perform routine maintenance and specialized repairs on various types of vehicles and equipment.
  • Schedules, performs and follows up on preventative and post-job maintenance on all tools, equipment, and units within the division.
  • Conduct regular inspections and inform management of necessary repairs.
  • Maintains accurate logs of all work performed.
  • Adhere to safety policies and ensure tools and equipment are safe and usable.
  • Works on small engines such as, but not limited to, lawnmowers, chainsaws, and generators.
  • Maintains tire care and repairs
  • Occasional travel to different locations and may be required to stay overnight for several days or as needed.
  • Ability to discuss vehicle/equipment issues and repair options with managers.

  • Technical Manuals: Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics
  • New Technologies: Staying updated with the latest automotive technologies and repair techniques.
  • Time Management: Efficiently managing time to handle multiple repairs
  • Organizational Skills: Keeping tools and workspace organized for efficiency

Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or its equivalent.

Experience: Minimum five (5) years of relevant experience. Certification in Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) is beneficial but not required.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
