Job Purpose
As a Heavy Duty Machinery Mechanic, you will perform repairs and maintenance on refuse vehicles and heavy machinery, including vehicle bodies, control systems, air brakes, suspension, steering, hydraulics, electrical systems, engines, HVAC components, drivetrain, and chassis.

Duties and Responsibilities
Your responsibilities include:

• Vehicle and equipment maintenance
• Engine repairs and maintenance
• Welding and fabrication
• Scanning trucks and troubleshooting mechanical issues with electronic tools
• Electrical repairs
• Assisting with DOT inspections
• Oil changes and greasing
• Tire repairs and replacements
• Preventative maintenance to minimize downtime
• Road service calls for safe equipment operation
• Troubleshooting emissions issues
• Problem-solving
• Completing work orders and reporting to Maintenance Supervisor

Candidate Profile
Preferred qualifications include:

• Commercial Driver's License (a plus, not required)
• Understanding of work orders and labor standards
• Experience with refuse trucks and heavy machinery maintenance
• ASE Certifications (a plus, not required)
• Minimum two years of experience as a heavy-duty technician
• Ability to perform inspections of brakes, drivetrain, emissions, hydraulics, transmissions, engines, steering, and suspension
