Job Purpose:

As a Heavy Duty Machinery Mechanic, you will perform repairs and maintenance on refuse vehicles and heavy machinery, including vehicle refuse bodies, control systems, air brakes, suspension, steering, hydraulics, electrical systems, engine components, HVAC, drivetrain, and chassis.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintain vehicles and equipment
• Perform engine repairs and maintenance
• Weld and fabricate
• Scan trucks and troubleshoot mechanical issues using electronic tools
• Perform electrical repairs
• Assist with DOT inspections
• Complete oil changes and greasing
• Replace tires as needed
• Perform preventative maintenance to minimize downtime
• Safely execute road service calls
• Troubleshoot emissions issues
• Problem solve actively
• Complete work orders and report to Maintenance Supervisor

The Successful Candidate Profile Includes:

• Commercial Driver's License is a plus but not required
• Understanding of work orders and labor standards
• Experience with maintenance of refuse trucks and heavy machinery
• ASE Certifications are a plus but not required
• Minimum two years of experience as a heavy-duty technician
• Ability to perform inspections of brakes, drivetrain, emissions, hydraulics, transmissions, engine, steering, and suspension
