Mechanic

Position Impact

As a mechanic, your role is crucial in helping the organization keep communities safe and clean.

You will perform maintenance and repairs on trucks in accordance with factory and industry standards. The qualified candidate will run diagnostics on vehicles, communicate effectively, and work closely with team members to meet company goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Inspect vehicles, trailers, and equipment; perform diagnostic testing; conduct repairs on trucks and trailers
  • Perform regular preventative maintenance such as inspections, tire rotations, and oil changes
  • Understand and work with ABS systems, suspension, steering, leaks, wheel alignment, electrical systems
  • Replace bearings, lights, brakes, coolant as needed
  • Manage parts inventory and request purchase orders for necessary items
  • Work with team to diagnose vehicle issues and plan repairs
  • Keep accurate records of repairs
  • Coordinate with external repair shops
  • Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to perform all essential duties satisfactorily
  • Willingness to work weekend rotations
  • Own mechanical tools

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • At least 2 years of experience, preferably as a diesel mechanic
  • Valid Class B driver’s license required; Class A a plus
  • TWIC card preferred
  • ASE Diesel Certification preferred

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to talk, hear, stand, walk, bend, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, climb, and lift up to 50 pounds regularly. Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights. Strong interpersonal skills, conflict resolution, and effective communication are essential. Ability to read, write, perform mathematics, and wear personal protective equipment. Work involves both office and physical jobsite environments.
