Overview
As a mechanic, your role is influential to the organization's ability to keep communities safe and clean. You will perform maintenance work and truck repairs in accordance with factory and industry standards. The qualified candidate will run diagnostics on vehicles and work closely with team members to meet company goals.
Responsibilities
- General inspection of vehicles, trailers, equipment; run diagnostics and perform minor and major repairs on trucks and trailers.
- Conduct regular preventative maintenance on service trucks, including inspections, tire rotations and oil changes.
- Knowledge and understanding of ABS systems, suspension, steering, leaks, wheel alignment and balancing, electrical systems.
- Inspect and replace bearings, lights, brakes, coolant.
- Maintain parts inventory, requesting purchase orders for ordering of parts and necessary items.
- Collaborate with team in diagnosing problems with vehicles and plan repairs.
- Maintain accurate records of each repair performed on vehicles.
- Coordinating with external repair shops.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Must be able to have weekend rotations.
- Must have mechanical tools.
Education Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of experience, preferably in diesel mechanics.
- Should have a valid Class B driver’s license; Class A is a plus.
- TWIC card preferred.
- ASE Diesel Certification is preferred.
Physical/Mental Requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing. The employee must frequently lift or move items up to 50 pounds. May occasionally deal with heights. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, employees and managers. Effective conflict resolution abilities. Ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form. Ability to read, write and do mathematics. Ability to wear personal protective equipment, including respiratory protection. Work environment includes both office setting and physical jobsite; may require work in confined spaces.
