The University of South Florida (USF) Taneja College of Pharmacy presents an exciting leadership opportunity for a visionary and collaborative Dean/Senior Associate Vice President, USF Health. The Dean/SAVP serves as the chief academic officer for the College, promoting the best interests of student pharmacists and patients while advancing the College's strategic goals. The Dean/SAVP articulates a vision to enhance the College's reputation and secure support from donors, lawmakers, and University leadership. Located in Tampa, Florida, with campuses in St. Petersburg and Sarasota-Manatee, USF is a metropolitan, research-intensive institution.

Responsibilities

  • Academic Leadership: Serve as the chief academic officer of the Taneja College of Pharmacy, providing leadership to advance its academic mission.
  • Educational Vision: Drive the College and ensure students are prepared with cutting-edge knowledge and skills for a technology-driven healthcare marketplace.
  • Academic Excellence: Foster a culture of excellence, promote innovative teaching methodologies, and support interprofessional education for future pharmacy practice.

Strategic Vision

  • Advance the practice of pharmacy locally in Tampa Bay, throughout Florida, and nationally, positioning the College as a leader in transforming healthcare.
  • Build strategic partnerships with university units, healthcare systems, industry leaders, and community organizations to enhance impact and resources.
  • Represent the College to external stakeholders (donors, lawmakers, professional organizations) to elevate reputation and secure support for initiatives.
  • Promote integration of advanced technologies into pharmacy education and practice to meet evolving healthcare demands.

Operational Oversight

  • Recruit, develop, and retain exceptional students, faculty, and staff to foster excellence and innovation.
  • Oversee fiscal policies and procedures to ensure financial sustainability and long-term success.
  • Maintain accreditation status with ACPE, ensuring compliance with standards.

Research and Innovation Leadership

  • Develop and implement a strategic research plan to advance grant funding, collaboration, and measurable innovation outcomes.
  • Secure external funding through grants, industry partnerships, and philanthropy to support research.
  • Foster a culture of research excellence and encourage participation in high-impact studies addressing healthcare challenges.

Qualifications

  • PharmD and/or PhD with eligibility for Florida licensure preferred.
  • Distinguished academic record at full professor (tenure optional).
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, team-building, and organizational skills within a complex, diverse organization.
  • Active engagement with community, health, academic, and business organizations.
  • Deep understanding of pharmacy practice, research, policy, and experience negotiating clinical practice agreements.
  • Ability to support faculty research endeavors and disseminate findings.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong interpersonal abilities.
