Overview
The University of South Florida (USF) Taneja College of Pharmacy presents an exciting leadership opportunity for a visionary and collaborative Dean, and Senior Associate Vice President, USF Health. The Dean/SAVP serves as the chief academic officer for the College, promoting student pharmacists and patient care while guiding the college’s strategic and developmental goals. Located in Tampa with campuses in St. Petersburg and Sarasota-Manatee, USF aims to advance academic excellence, community engagement, and clinical innovation, shaping the future of pharmacy education and research in a rapidly growing health program.
USF is a metropolitan, research-intensive institution recently inducted into the Association of American Universities (AAU). The Dean/SAVP will articulate a vision to enhance the College’s reputation, secure support from donors and policymakers, and foster strategic partnerships to advance its initiatives.
Location: Tampa, Florida (with additional campus locations). This position may be subject to a Level 1 or Level 2 criminal background check. USF is an Equal Opportunity Educator.
Responsibilities
- Academic Leadership: Serve as the chief academic officer of the Taneja College of Pharmacy, providing leadership to advance its academic mission and ensuring students are equipped with current knowledge and skills for a technology-driven healthcare marketplace.
- Strategic Vision: Advance the practice of pharmacy locally, statewide, and nationally; build and strengthen strategic partnerships with university units, healthcare systems, industry leaders, donors, lawmakers, and professional organizations; promote integration of advanced technologies into pharmacy education and practice.
- Operational Oversight: Recruit, develop, and retain exceptional students, faculty, and staff; oversee fiscal policies to ensure financial sustainability; maintain ACPE accreditation and compliance with standards.
- Research and Innovation Leadership: Develop and implement a strategic research plan; secure external funding through grants, industry partnerships, and philanthropy; foster a culture of research excellence and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Qualifications
- PharmD and/or PhD with eligibility for pharmacist licensure in Florida preferred; distinguished academic record at full professor (tenure optional).
- Demonstrated leadership, communication, team-building, and organizational skills within a complex, diverse organization.
- Active engagement with community, health, academic, and business organizations; understanding of pharmacy practice, research, and policy; experience in negotiating clinical practice agreements.
- Ability to support faculty research endeavors and excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
