Technical and Maintenance Director , a senior leadership position supporting critical operations in a high-performing chemical manufacturing facility on the Gulf Coast. With approximately
1,200 employees worldwide , the products manufactured are essential to a wide range of industries and applications, including: Paints and Coatings, Lubricants and Functional Fluids, Personal Care Products Summary: This role provides strategic leadership and oversight across Maintenance, Reliability, Turnarounds, Asset Management, Technical Process Engineering, and Capital Projects to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations. This is a pivotal role requiring a broad, multi-disciplinary background in chemical plant environments and the ability to drive operational excellence through people, processes, and innovation. The Director will operate in alignment with the company’s Mission, Vision, Values, and Strategic Objectives, while ensuring adherence to HSE standards and corporate policies. Key Responsibilities: Maintenance & Reliability Lead the development and execution of comprehensive maintenance and reliability strategies to optimize equipment performance and minimize downtime. Oversee preventive and predictive maintenance programs in compliance with industry and regulatory standards. Use performance dashboards and KPIs to track progress and mitigate asset-related risks. Turnarounds Integrate Maintenance and Technical teams to execute turnaround events with defined objectives, timelines, and resource plans. Lead planning and execution of turnarounds that achieve safety, cost, and reliability targets. Drive continuous improvement by implementing lessons learned from each event. Process & Process Control Engineering Direct technical process and process control teams to improve production efficiency, reduce raw material and energy usage, and enhance safety performance. Oversee development and application of process simulations and models. Ensure all processes meet regulatory and environmental standards. Lead the Project Engineering and I&E teams in executing capital projects aligned with long-term site goals. Maintain a rolling 5-year CapEx plan with clear project justifications and deliverables. Drive excellence in project execution through rigorous planning, budgeting, and risk management. Ensure effective information systems, reporting, and knowledge management within departments. Maintain departmental budgets in line with corporate goals. Recruit, develop, and mentor high-performing teams that align with strategic initiatives. Serve as a key member of the plant leadership team, contributing to cross-functional success. Qualifications Education: Minimum B.S. in Engineering required, prefer Chemical, Chemistry or Mechanical Experience: 10–15+ years of experience in a chemical manufacturing or similar industrial setting 5+ years in a senior leadership role Demonstrated success managing plant maintenance, engineering, and reliability functions Familiarity with regulatory standards, including TCEQ and environmental permitting In-depth knowledge of unit operations, equipment design, process control, and optimization Core Competencies Strategic Vision & Execution Maintenance & Reliability Leadership Capital Project Oversight Budget & Resource Management Risk Assessment and Mitigation Root Cause Analysis & Problem Solving Knowledge of Value Stream Mapping and Lean Principles Excellent Benefit Package - Full Relocation Offered to qualified applicants Seniority level
