Job Description

First Call Direct Hire is seeking a detail-oriented Manufacturing Cost Accountant to join our Franklin, IN client’s finance team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, analyzing, and reporting cost-related data to support management in decision-making, cost control, and profitability improvement.

Cost Accountant Key Responsibilities

Collect, analyze, and report on manufacturing costs (materials, labor, and overhead).
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual cost accounting reports.
Monitor inventory transactions and reconcile inventory balances.
Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.
Evaluate and recommend cost-saving initiatives across production and supply chain.
Support the development of standard costing and ensure compliance with it.
Maintain the integrity of cost accounting systems and cost ledgers.
Work with operations, production, and procurement teams to track cost drivers.
Perform product costing and profitability analysis.
Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal controls.

Cost Accountant Qualifications & Skills

Bachelor's Degree in a related field or 2 to 4 years of position-related experience.
Strong knowledge of cost accounting, financial analysis, and inventory management.
Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel (advanced level preferred).
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to work under deadlines.
Good communication skills to collaborate across departments.
