Founded in 2013, the Second-year Transformational Experience Program (STEP) serves nearly 3,000 second-year students annually through mentorship, professional development, and High Impact Practices. Student participants explore academic, personal and professional goals under the guidance of a Faculty Mentor. Through engagement in small group cohort meetings and other programming, students develop skills in financial literacy, career exploration and leadership. The program culminates as students pursue a STEP Signature Project in one of the following categories: Creative and Artistic Endeavor, Education Abroad, Internship, Leadership, Service-Learning or Undergraduate Research. Over the lifespan of the program, STEP has enhanced student retention and has propelled students' development as individuals, scholars and aspiring professionals. The STEP Team is searching for a Senior Program Coordinator to lead key initiatives in this program. The Senior Program Coordinator serves as a member of the STEP Administrative Team, contributing to the strategic implementation and ongoing success of STEP across Ohio State's Columbus and regional campuses, and the Agriculture and Technical Institute (ATI). The coordinator is responsible for a broad portfolio of responsibilities that span program implementation, student supervision, event coordination, and strategic operations. A primary focus of this role is providing leadership of the STEP Ambassador program, a student leadership initiative that supports prospective student recruitment and outreach of STEP. The candidate will use knowledge of student development theory to maintain the program's successful operation, including recruitment, training and professional development, and cultivating student leadership in support of STEP's programming and activities. The coordinator supervises student employees who support STEP's administrative functions in alignment with program needs. An additional focus of the role is supporting the implementation of STEP on Ohio State's regional and ATI campuses. The coordinator partners closely with STEP staff and faculty mentors to ensure that regional campus programming aligns with STEP's objectives and goals, while identifying and guiding necessary adaptations to meet the unique needs of campus cultures and student populations. The coordinator is also responsibility for leading and collaborating with other team members to plan and execute annual STEP signature events that support student and mentor recruitment and publicly showcase student success made possible through STEP. Activities include event logistics, coordination with campus partners, and ensuring the event reflects the program's goals and outcomes. Other responsibilities of the position include coordinating and supporting STEP daily operations, including developing and distributing marketing materials in partnership with Student Life Marketing; reviewing STEP Signature Project proposals, disbursing STEP Fellowships, and utilizing the STEP Dashboard for reporting and informing strategic program recommendations. The coordinator is also responsible for providing oversight of Professional Development Co-Curricular (PDC) Programs, establishing and cultivating partnerships to meet current student needs and/or connecting them with campus resources, actively engaging in Student Life events and processes, and other duties as assigned. This position works occasional evening and weekend hours. Additional Information:
Minimum Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Advanced degree in relevant field may be desirable. 4 years of relevant experience required. 4-8 years of relevant experience preferred. Desired Qualifications Master's degree in Student Affairs or a related field; 1-3 years experience working in a supervisory capacity. The target hiring range for this job profile is $55,700 - $72,700. T he actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to, education, years of experience, internal equity, etc. CRM: Function: Academic Administration, Subfunction: Academic Program Services, Career Band: Individual Contributor - Specialized, Career Level: S3.
