The Division of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Education and Training is seeking an OSH Industrial HygieneConsultant I in the Health Training and Consultation Branch. This position will perform entry level dutiesregarding industrial hygiene consultative surveys to recognize and evaluate workers exposure to potentiallyhazardous health-related conditions.

Duties of the position include, but are not limited to, the following: Assists Industrial Hygiene Consultants in conducting health consultative surveys to develop the abilityto recognize and evaluate workers' exposure to hazardous environments. Assists Industrial Hygiene Consultants in writing detailed technical reports regarding correctiveactions for these surveys. Attends professional training courses to develop competency in the field of industrial hygiene. Assists in the calibration of industrial hygiene instrumentation to develop competency in thecalibration, operation, and maintenance of the equipment. Assists in the development of industrial hygiene training sessions to develop knowledge in the latestinformation and techniques related to industrial hygiene. Conducts research in industrial hygiene topics to assist in answering questions regarding industrialhygiene-related standards and interpretations. When you join our team, you will:

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in industrial hygiene, chemistry, physics, engineering, environmental health, biology, environmental health technology, engineering technology or a related field. The above degree must include the completion of at least 12 semester hours in chemistry.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: NONE

Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE

Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: Current or prior military experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis or professional experience in occupational safety and health or a related field will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year-basis.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must possess a valid driver's license prior to employment in this job classification. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Working Conditions

Frequent travel is required. When conducting inspections, employees in this job title are exposed to the same working conditions as those employed at the workplace. May be exposed to potential hazards which may require the following of safety precautions.

Probationary Period

This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 12 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
