Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Mechanic to join our team in Sylacauga, AL. This role is responsible for the service and repair of a wide range of equipment, including earth-moving machinery, diesel engines, electric power generators, lift trucks, and other related products. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong work ethic, a commitment to safety, and an enthusiasm for customer service and teamwork. This position requires both independent work and collaboration with a team. Candidates must supply their own hand tools.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform minor repairs using proper tools and procedures.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electronic systems, using diagnostic tools as needed.
  • Conduct Preventive Maintenance (PM) services in accordance with factory specifications.
  • Disassemble, repair, and reassemble basic components such as engines, hydraulics, transmissions, and electrical systems.
  • Properly order and return parts in a timely fashion.
  • Utilize service information systems accurately.
  • Adhere to all safety policies, regulations, and procedures.
  • Work independently on customer job sites when required.
  • Replace defective components as directed.
  • Conduct facility maintenance as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Communicate with customers to assess issues and determine repair solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and company regulations, including DOT and OSHA standards.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Minimum Experience

  • At least 1 year of experience in mechanical repair or a combination of technical education and experience.
  • Basic computer literacy and typing skills are required.

Skills and Competencies

  • Intermediate knowledge of engine, transmission, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic software and service systems.
  • Experience with Dossier Fleet Maintenance software is a plus (training available).
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Commitment to safety and compliance.

Working Conditions

  • Work is conducted both in-shop and on-site at customer locations.
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions and physical risks associated with heavy equipment repair.
  • Prolonged periods of standing on hard surfaces may be required.
  • Must be physically capable of lifting and maneuvering equipment and parts.
