Shift Supervisor Opportunity
An exciting opportunity exists for a Shift Supervisor to join the Syrah team based in Vidalia, Louisiana. Reporting to the Company's Operations Superintendent, this role is responsible for maintaining and operating the plant safely and efficiently per established plans, procedures, and standards. This includes assigning team members specific tasks to assure production plans and standards are met and driving accountability to include administration of the Syrah Work Performance System. Shift Supervisor must proactively develop his/her team's skills using the operational training program, assuring every employee receives the required exposure to all processes and supporting their development. Shift Supervisor must be well-versed in Critical Risk Management (CRMs) to include specific methods for deenergizing equipment and vessels as well as proper Safe Work Permitting processes. Shift Supervisor must be capable of serving as Incident Commander for all injuries, spills, process upsets, and emergency breakdowns during non-office hours and serve as an Operations liaison to all functional support groups including Process-Technical, QA Lab, Maintenance-Reliability, IT & HR. Duties and Responsibilities
The following responsibilities do not represent the entire list and additional tasks will also be required: Ensure compliance to all ISO, regulatory and company policies and procedures. Develop and maintain a respectful and trustworthy work environment at all times. Establish and maintain good communication processes with operating team and functional support groups. Promote a safe workplace, assure team members understand and comply with all safety protocols. Promote LEAN Principles including waste elimination, 5S and housekeeping standards. Serve as Help-Chain for the operating team in response to issues/unplanned situations. Escalate non-conformances and personnel issues to Operations Superintendent in a timely manner. Ensure production practices are in compliance with standards to achieve expected yield, quality and cost. Work with support personnel to ensure that all Safety and Maintenance work orders affecting Production are completed in a timely manner. Coordinate plant startup, shutdown, and emergency operation activities. Maintain shift staffing levels by filling vacancies due to vacation, callout, etc. or emergency situations. Administer vacation scheduling and overtime scheduling processes. Timely administration of Syrah Work Performance System including coaching/counseling and corrective action when warranted. Accurate administration of ADP timekeeping system for their team. Assist in development and implementation of operating training materials and procedures including startup, shutdown and emergency situations. Assist Operations Superintendent with maintenance coordination and Management of Change. Liaison with Operators, Process Engineers, Maintenance, and support staff for process evaluation, troubleshooting, repairs and optimization. Occasional contact with outside visitors, vendors and specialists. Education, Skills and Experience
Experience in an operational leadership role with the responsibility of leading and training direct reports within a Chemical Manufacturing (or related) industry is preferred. Proven exposure to and use of Safety Systems - e.g., VFL, Risk Management, Incident Reporting, CRM. Strong process & mechanical aptitude enabling timely troubleshooting and development of team's skills. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to multi-task and capable of handling complex high-stress situations. Strong computer literacy preferred. Ability to develop a high performing team environment by consistently demonstrating role model behavior. Ability to motivate, inspire willingness to perform and provide support even when efforts fail. Working knowledge of LEAN Principles to include Gemba, Kaizen, Root Cause Analysis methods, 5S, Standard Work, Process Design for Flow, Mistake-Proofing, Visual Management, Kanban & Forms of Waste. Working knowledge of Syrah Quality Management System (QMS) and ISO 9001:2015 Standard.
