Overview
Truck Driver - Combined role at Mayer, based in Crossett, AR. This position delivers products to/from customers and company locations in a delivery van or box truck (No CDL required). The role includes ensuring deliveries meet customer requirements and that materials are correct and undamaged. Employee level and pay depend on experience, knowledge, and capabilities.
This position offers a Monday to Friday schedule, paid holidays, and paid time off. You will be home on weekends.
The position of Truck Driver will be based out of our Crossett, AR location.
What You’ll Do
- Inspect company vehicle for visual and operating defects and complete a daily inspection report
- Keep the company vehicle clean, serviced, and maintained; alert supervisor of repair and/or service needs
- Follow Department of Transportation (DOT) and local/state driving laws and regulations
- Load or unload vehicle; verify materials for each order (quantity and type) and ensure they are free of damage before departure
- Assist in preparing orders for delivery as needed
- Complete documentation at delivery, including customer signature on the delivery receipt, packing list, and branch/warehouse manifest
- Pickup material returns from customers, inspect condition, and verify quantities and catalog numbers
- Pickup materials from company suppliers
- Senior Truck Driver may train entry-level drivers and provide mentorship
- May support other warehouse duties such as preparing, filling orders, receiving, stocking, staging, and shipping material
- Other duties as assigned
What You’ll Need
- In lieu of experience, must attend company driver training
- Must have a valid Driver’s License
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must pass a pre-employment and annual Motor Vehicle Record review
- Must obtain verification of non-expired medical certificate as required by law within 60 days of hire
- Must not have had a suspended driver’s license for a traffic accident/violation within the past 3 years
- Must not have any at-fault accidents in the past 3 years
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to handle loads with a combined weight not to exceed 26,000 GVW
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations and familiarity with traffic and driver laws
- Willingness to adhere to routes, schedules, safety procedures, and transportation laws
- Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to meet deadlines
- Excellent customer service skills
- Good attention to detail; ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to work overtime as needed
- Experience levels: Truck Driver I, II, Senior Driver with increasing responsibility for issues and problems
