Compal is a leading innovator dedicated to pushing the boundaries of technology and delivering advanced solutions to our clients. We are seeking a highly skilled Hardware Architect / Technical Liaison Engineer to join our automotive engineering team. This role will serve as a bridge between our internal engineering teams, customers, and external partners, ensuring technical alignment and driving the successful development of next-generation automotive hardware platforms. The ideal candidate will combine strong hardware design expertise with excellent communication and coordination skills. Through close collaboration and direction from the Engineering Team in Taipei, this position will be the first Point of Contact for US based OEM customers primarily through the Proof Of Concept & Early Development phases. Responsibilities
Collaborate regularly with R&D teams across Compaloften across time zonesas well as with customer engineering teams. Rely on strong remote communication skills to clearly convey complex technical concepts. Serve as the primary technical interface between internal teams, OEMs, and Tier-1 suppliers. Translate customer requirements into clear, actionable technical specifications for design and development teams. Deliver technical presentations, documentation, and progress updates to both customers and management. Capture implicit needs from OEM brainstorming sessions (e.g., seamless cockpit experience, next-gen sensor fusion) and define measurable technical boundaries (power budgets, interface protocols, environmental targets). Draft POC-specific Statements of Objectives (SOO) with clearly defined success criteria, distinguishing between mandatory and optional requirements. Ensure seamless integration of mechanical, electrical, and software systems into a cohesive, high-performing solution. Work onsite with OEM engineers during bench tests to quickly diagnose HW/SW interaction issues, coordinate Taipei-based debug support, and translate failure modes into actionable design updates. Document "Lessons Learned" to transform POC findings into mass-production requirements. Lead testing and validation to confirm integrated systems meet performance, safety, quality, and regulatory standards. Diagnosing and resolving complex integration challenges, including hardware/software conflicts, performance bottlenecks, and manufacturing inconsistencies. Ensure all designs and integration processes comply with automotive industry standards, safety regulations, and internal requirements. Develop and maintain detailed documentation, including design specifications, integration workflows, validation procedures, and test results. Partner closely with mechanical, electrical, software, validation, and manufacturing teams to drive integration success throughout the development lifecycle. Qualifications
5+ years of hands-on experience in the design, integration, and testing of electronic and mechanical assemblies (ADAS, Digital Cockpit, Connectivity, Zonal ECUs) within the automotive industry. Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related technical field. Experience with prototype bring-up, bench validation, and DFM-to-DFA transition. Deep understanding of vehicle system architectures, component-level design, and multi-domain integration processes. Proficient in engineering design and simulation tools such as CAD, CAE, and related software platforms. Strong familiarity with hardware interfaces and protocols including MIPI CSI-2, USB, GMSL, FPD-Link III, CAN, RS-232, and Ethernet. Experience developing and interpreting component and system-level specifications. Knowledge of DFMEA (Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and PFMEA (Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) for identifying potential failure points and implementing risk mitigation strategies. Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills with a methodical approach to identifying root causes and implementing solutions. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across diverse engineering teams and interface with customers. Familiarity with Stellantis processes and standards are a plus. Fluent in Mandarin also a plus Travel
