Overview

Position: Outreach Advocate The Outreach Advocate is responsible for conducting presentations on issues of intimate partner violence to the community. The focus is to increase awareness and raise public consciousness around domestic violence, family violence, teen dating violence, and bullying. The position includes education and training to local schools, businesses, organizations, community groups, and healthcare providers in the community. Responsibilities

Work cooperatively with the program director to engage with and meet the needs of the recipients of training, education, and outreach within Dutchess County. Educate the community about Grace Smith House services and programs. Develop, plan and implement developmentally appropriate prevention programs for large and small groups, including youth, adults, community-based groups, businesses, and others. Maintain and enhance curriculum, including but not limited to PowerPoint presentations, scripted presentations, posters, pamphlets, and additional educational materials. Attend and table at events that raise awareness of teen dating violence, family violence, and intimate partner violence in the community. Integrate trauma-sensitive, strength-based perspectives into all interactions and presentations. Collaborate and work cooperatively with other agencies, staff, students, and volunteers on presentations and activities. Provide crisis intervention when necessary and provide referrals for services as needed. Attend mandatory trainings as scheduled and engage in training that promotes professional development. Incorporate social media tools and use in community outreach and presentations. Working hours

Monday through Friday; business hours. Flexibility is needed to accommodate agency outreach events that take place occasionally in the evenings and/or on weekends. Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred Experience: Public speaking and/or public presentations Experience facilitating and engaging groups Background in a human services program and/or education Specialized Skills: Computer literacy; knowledge of social media Other Job Requirements: Clean, valid driver’s license and driving skill level consistent with agency policy; operate agency vehicles when necessary; ability to lift up to 30 pounds; ability to respect and work with diverse groups; excellent interpersonal and communication skills; Spanish speaking a plus Compensation and benefits
