ABOUT THE POSITION
The City of Monterey is hiring two (2) full-time Senior Project Managers in our Public Works Department. One position is in the General Services Division and the other is in the Engineering Division. The Senior Project Manager for General Services is responsible for managing building and facilities maintenance programs and capital improvements projects. The Senior Project Manager for Engineering is responsible for managing municipal public works projects including street maintenance, traffic signals, storm drains, sanitary sewers, and marine structure projects. This is a high-level supervisory role requiring significant experience and expertise, with?on ownership of work, independent decision-making, and leadership of projects with limited direct oversight. The Senior Project Manager oversees a team of engineers, project managers, and inspectors. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Essential duties may include, but are not limited to the following: Direct, prioritize, coordinate, and monitor projects. Develop scopes of work for projects and programs. Work with architects, engineers, contractors, and other professional consultants. Oversee work by direct reports and design consultants. Perform supervisory tasks for assigned employees, including evaluation, training, and development of programs. Develop and review project schedules to meet scope, cost, and schedule benchmarks for projects of varying size and complexity. Manage on-call contract task orders for design, surveying, and environmental monitoring. Conduct meetings with contractors, design engineers, utility owners, and stakeholders to coordinate projects and resolve disputes.
