Ogletree Deakins, one of the largest labor and employment law firms representing management, has an opportunity in its California offices for an experienced litigator seeking a role with increased flexibility without giving up the challenge of a full-cycle litigation practice. This highly flexible role will allow the right candidate to work remotely without the administrative and client-development demands of a shareholder/partner track position. This role will focus on efficient, effective legal work with a lower billable hours target than our full-time shareholder track attorneys. Working with a dedicated client team servicing one of the firm’s largest clients, this attorney will defend employers in employment litigation, primarily single/multi-plaintiff lawsuits. Core responsibilities will regularly include developing defense strategy, performing legal research, drafting pleadings, managing discovery-related activities (including motion practice), and drafting dispositive motions. From time to time, depending on jurisdiction and location, this role may also take or defend depositions, argue motions, participate in mediation, trial or other aspects of a lawsuit that require in-person presence. This position may be remote, but the successful candidate must reside in a state where the firm has a physical office. We will consider qualified applicants with criminal histories in the manner consistent with applicable local fair chance hiring laws. Requirements Responsibilities

Developing defense strategy for employment litigation in multi-plaintiff or single-plaintiff cases Performing legal research and drafting pleadings Managing discovery-related activities and motion practice Drafting dispositive motions Taking or defending depositions, arguing motions, participating in mediation, trial or other in-person aspects as applicable Qualifications

Qualified candidates must be actively licensed to practice law and in good standing in California Minimum of 5 years of relevant employment litigation experience, either in-house or at a law firm Excellent analytical and writing skills, strong organizational abilities, ability to multi-task, and dedication to client service High level of self-motivation, accountability for work product, and responsiveness for remote work Demonstrated ability to manage and collaborate with attorneys, administrative professionals, and clients, including excellent interpersonal skills Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Benefits & Additional Information Salary ranges by location are provided where applicable: California: $190,000–$209,000; Colorado, New York State, Washington, District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey: $180,000–$198,000. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience, location, and other factors as permitted by law. This position qualifies for the benefits below.
