Overview
The Oncology Intracellular Targeted Cancer Therapeutics Unit has an opening for an In Vivo Principal Scientist at its Cambridge, MA site. The successful candidate will work with a highly motivated team to discover and develop novel oncology drugs with a clear genetic relationship to cancer. Responsibilities
The in vivo lead for early-stage discovery programs and responsible for generating in vivo proof of concept data for anti-tumor efficacy in genetically relevant tumor models. Lead in vivo strategy, represent in vivo pharmacology in project teams, and independently execute in vivo techniques to evaluate a compound in mouse tumor models and deliver high quality data. Work with the project team to generate efficacy-PK-PD correlation for the lead compound. Share data with the project team and at internal or external forums. Responsible for end-to-end execution of the in vivo tumor model studies including in-life portion, data analysis and recording. Works in compliance with GSK’s institutional animal welfare guidelines for the use of animals in research. Writing study reports for regulatory submissions. Basic Qualifications
Doctorate / PhD in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, or related life sciences field. 1+ years of experience with design, conduct, and analyze data from in vivo pharmacology studies. Experience in working with in vivo tumor models (CDX — cell line derived, PDX — patient derived and Syngeneic mouse models). Experience managing multiple priorities in a matrix environment. Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of translationally relevant tumor models in both solid and hematologic tumor space. Demonstrated PK/PD, efficacy and biomarker studies to inform patient selection strategies, dose and schedule optimization, and identify rationale drug combinations. Experience in techniques including cell culture, compound preparation and formulation, administration to mice (i.v., s.c., p.o.), tumor implantation and measurements. Data analysis skills using Prism GraphPad or other software. Ability to lead from the bench in problem solving and development of innovative solutions. Excellent communication and presentation skills. A proven track record of high productivity and scientific publications in peer-reviewed journals. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
