Overview Director, Site Reliability Engineering at Fidelity Investments. The Fidelity Enterprise Infrastructure (EI) Production Support team is seeking a Director to help scale our growing public cloud presence. Fidelity’s Site Reliability Engineers work with our cloud platform teams to deliver reliable runtimes for Fidelity’s business critical workloads. This team is responsible for cross-cutting cloud management capabilities and are the experts on the state of Fidelity’s cloud platforms at any moment. Ideal candidates will have a background in either software engineering or systems engineering with a desire to learn the other or previous experience as an SRE.

Responsibilities

Drive engineering and operational support for Business Unit aligned functions including Application Support, Cloud Enablement, Helpdesk, Environment Management, Mid-tier & Web Operations, and Platform Engineering.

Promote Fidelity’s agile leadership behaviors and sustain an innovative agile culture.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure stability, reliability, and scalability of Fidelity’s cloud platforms.

Lead and mentor teams, influence adoption of stability principles, and drive operational readiness discussions.

Develop frameworks for self-assessment of applications on stability and dependability pillars.

Participate in discussions impacting customer experience and share collective knowledge of past successes.

Facilitate discussions among component owners to improve end-to-end understanding of transaction paths.

Provide consulting to architects and developers on patterns and reusable solutions.

Drive continuous learning and experimentation to improve current state.

Qualifications / Expertise

Ability to automate with scripting languages (Python, Shell, etc.).

Experience with infrastructure as code tools (IAM, ARM, Terraform, Chef).

Solid understanding of Cloud Computing and DevOps concepts including CI/CD pipelines.

Hands-on Kubernetes skills; experience with AWS and Azure cloud services.

Experience with Chaos Engineering for resiliency.

Experience with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/OpenSearch, OpenTelemetry, Datadog, etc.).

Instrumentation, monitoring, logging, and alerting for distributed systems at scale.

Proven experience maintaining scalability and resiliency of complex environments.

Ability to interpret large datasets using query languages and visualization tools.

Strong communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.

Ability to learn new software, methods, and practices and bring them to developers.

Collaborative, constructive relationship-building across teams and locations.

Ability to connect architectural ideas to feasible solutions and promote stability principles.

Experience in operational readiness discussions and decisions impacting customer experience.

Mindset of continuous learning and experimentation.

Employment details Most roles at Fidelity are Hybrid, requiring onsite every other week (M-F) in a Fidelity office. This does not apply to Remote or fully Onsite roles.
