This role will cover network engineering support across labs within the BOA/OPIR/ESL team at Schriever Space Force Base. The candidate will provide support to software integration labs and handle end-to-end network changes, enhance and improve the network system and architecture, troubleshoot complex network issues, resolve discovered bugs, and ensure the network is available 100% of the time. The successful candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and possesses strong written and verbal communication skills. The role thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment with a geographically diverse team. Due to the classified nature of this role, the selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility. There is no remote/hybrid/telework available for this position. Basic Qualifications for Network Engineer
Bachelor's Degree and 2 years of related engineering experience; OR a master's degree in a STEM discipline and 0 years of related engineering experience; OR 6 years in lieu of degree. Active DoD 8140 approved IAT Level II (or higher) compliant certification. Examples include: CCNA Security, Network +, Security+CE and CISSP. Understanding of TCP/IP, IPv4 addressing and network design including IP subnetting, VLANs, Spanning Tree, Nexus VPC and static routing/dynamic routing protocols. Understanding of the OSI model and how to use it to troubleshoot network issues. Experience with firewall management and configuration with Cisco FirePower, ASA, Fortigate. Understanding of DNS and network device configuration and troubleshooting. Experience with Microsoft Office tools such as Visio and Power Point. Good understanding and knowledge of network security features like IP access-lists. Current DoD Secret Clearance required to start and ability to obtain/maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable time frame. Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor of Science (BS) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline. Active DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility preferred. Professional certification specific to networking (e.g., CCNA or higher). Experience with Cisco technologies such as Nexus switches, ACI fabrics, Catalyst switches; data center architecture. Understanding of network automation scripting using Ansible, Python, Bash, and Shell. Knowledge of virtualization technologies like VMware and networking solutions (e.g., NSX). Understanding of MPLS, QoS, multicast; familiarity with network management tools (e.g., SolarWinds, SuzieQ, Splunk, Cisco ISE). Familiar with Windows, Linux, VMware configuration and troubleshooting. Experience with HAIPE/TACLANE encryptors and other military COMSEC/CRYPTO equipment and procedures. Familiar with network emulator tools (EVE-NG, GNS3, CML, VIRL).
