Overview
Overwatch is seeking a Project Engineer with strong MEP and commissioning experience to support the delivery of highly complex data center projects. This role is hands-on, detail-driven, and vital to the success of our high-performance builds. You will coordinate, install, and commission mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems from design through project turnover, working with construction teams, design engineers, and commissioning agents to ensure systems meet performance requirements and schedule expectations. About the Role Responsibilities
Coordinate MEP scope across contractors, vendors, and internal teams from design development through final commissioning Drive the commissioning schedule and process, ensuring all systems are tested and function according to design intent and client requirements Track MEP submittals, RFIs, and inspections to support seamless execution in the field Support issue resolution related to mechanical/electrical systems with a bias toward field-driven solutions Maintain accurate logs and documentation around equipment startup, system testing, and commissioning reports Liaise with commissioning agents and QA/QC teams to ensure system readiness and turnover milestones are met Monitor compliance with safety standards, specifications, and codes specific to MEP installations Collaborate with superintendents, subcontractors, and vendors to uphold schedule and quality milestones Support punch list development and resolution during final commissioning and closeout Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field preferred 3+ years of experience in MEP-focused construction roles, preferably in mission-critical or technically intensive environments Familiarity with commissioning processes, checklists, and documentation (Level 15 commissioning) Strong understanding of HVAC, electrical distribution, plumbing, and building automation systems Proven ability to drive timelines, resolve field issues, and ensure MEP system readiness Excellent organizational and communication skills to collaborate across field and engineering teams Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience supporting commissioning on a data center or mission-critical projects Familiarity with TAB reports, BMS systems, and integrated systems testing (IST) Certifications such as LEED AP, CxA, or PMP Proficiency in Procore, Bluebeam, and scheduling software (e.g., P6) OSHA 30 certification or equivalent safety training Skills Youll Use
Field issue resolution & hands-on construction problem-solving Strong documentation & reporting (MEP checklists, turnover packages) Scheduling & tracking of long-lead equipment and startup milestones Cross-functional collaboration with commissioning agents and client teams About the Company
