Distance Learning Specialist
The South Carolina Judicial Branch is seeking a motivated and innovative Distance Learning Specialist to join our Court Education Department. This role plays a key part in expanding access to judicial education through both in-person and online platforms. The Distance Learning Specialist will manage the Branch's Learning Management System (LMS), support distance learning technologies, and develop engaging educational programs for judicial officers, clerks, and administrative staff. The ideal candidate combines strong technical skills with a passion for education and innovation. Essential Duties and Responsibilities of the Position This job bulletin represents general duties for this position and is not intended to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Administer and oversee the Judicial Branch's online learning platforms and LMS. Develop, coordinate, and support web-based and in-person training programs. Create and upload online learning modules, including recording, editing, and publishing webinars and live programs. Work with subject matter experts to adapt classroom training into effective online courses. Provide faculty support and teach instructors how to use instructional technology. Troubleshoot and support staff and end-users with LMS and distance learning tools. Produce instructional content, assessments, and support media (audio, video, graphics, simulations, etc.). Stay current with trends in educational technology and recommend improvements. Prepare reports for compliance with annual education, certification, and licensure requirements. Support Court Education's intranet, website, and event applications as needed. Minimum and Additional Requirements
Bachelor's degree in adult education, instructional design, computer science, or related field. At least three (3) years of experience teaching in-person and online in an adult education environment. At least two (2) years of experience administering or working with LMS platforms (e.g., Moodle, Blackboard, SumTotal). Experience in training in design, development, and delivery of in-person and online programs. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics Strong ability to write instructional content, scripts, and multimedia support materials. Knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design, and evaluation methods. Skilled in collaboration with subject matter experts and cross-functional teams. Excellent technology, communication, and analytical skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while exercising discretion and sound judgment. Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in education, instructional design, computer science, or related field. Three or more years of experience with video technology, web conferencing, and eLearning platforms. One to three years of experience in a legal or judicial setting. Five or more years' proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Additional Comments
