Direct Counsel is seeking a
Funds & Asset Management Tax Associate
to join a
prestigious Am Law 100 firm
in
New York . This position offers the opportunity to advise leading investment firms and financial institutions on complex tax matters related to
fund formation, asset management, and investment structuring
across various asset classes. Key Responsibilities Provide
tax structuring and advisory services
for
private credit, real estate, infrastructure, and private equity funds . Advise on
fund formation, structuring, and investor tax considerations , including U.S. and international tax implications. Counsel clients on
asset manager compensation structures , carried interest, and partnership tax matters. Address tax compliance and reporting obligations related to fund operations. Analyze and advise on
Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITs)
and other investment structures (experience in this area is helpful but not required). Collaborate with investment teams, fund managers, and financial institutions to develop tax-efficient strategies. Qualifications Education:
J.D. from a top-tier law school, class of
2019 to 2022 . Experience:
2 to 5 years of experience in tax law with a focus on
funds, asset management, and investment structuring . Technical Knowledge:
Strong understanding of
partnership taxation, fund structuring, and tax issues affecting private funds . Skills:
Excellent academic credentials, legal research and writing skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with clients and internal teams. Work Environment & Compensation Salary Range:
$260,000 - $390,000 (compensation may vary based on experience, skills, and firm policies).
