Clinical Services Caseworker

This position will involve direct contact with inmates housed at the facility. About This Role
Provides Mental Health Services to the inmate population. Incumbents provide clinical evaluation, assessment, intervention, counseling, therapy, treatment, and rehabilitation for inmates. Work in group therapy settings, as well as one on one sessions. Coordinates with inmates to identify treatment plan goals and needs. Provide recommendations to jail staff for housing of mentally ill inmates. Determine appropriate treatment for inmates and follow up reports. Provides crisis intervention to include those at high risk for suicide/homicide and evaluate potential need for hospitalization. Prepares and maintains records, files, and documentation. Serve as liaison for the Adult Detention Center in clinical review with the Community Service Board/Emergency Services and Forensic Mental Health Hospitals. This position is responsible for developing, providing, and evaluating clinical treatment processes for Inmates. Also performs additional duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE: Principles and practices of providing clinical services. Principles and practices of record preparation and retention. Applicable federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations. Customer service principles. Recordkeeping principles and practices. Modern office practices. Computers and related software applications. SKILLS: Managing an assigned clinical services caseload. Providing consultation. Preparing reports. Compiling data and information. Providing customer service. Maintaining a variety of records and logs. Using computers and related software applications. Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, and the general public. Be sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction. PREFERRED SKILLS: Possesses or ability to obtain an unrestricted LCSW, LPC, or LMFT in the Commonwealth of Virginia 1-2 years of experience in the delivery of human services to adults and youth in a Mental Health, Substance Abuse, or Emergency Services outpatient program. Experience conducting comprehensive assessments, mental health/substance abuse screenings to include the Columbia-Suicide Severity screening; and make initial diagnosis. Experience evaluating risk and potential need for hospitalization; developing and implementing crisis management plans. ENTRY SALARY RANGE: $81,140.80 - $94,176.23 Annually Starting salary beyond minimum is based on verified related work experience. Fifty percent (50%) of the incentive will be paid after ninety (90) days of employment and fifty percent (50%) will be paid following the completion of the probationary period. Probationary employees that voluntarily terminate employment with the County, shall repay the net amount (minus state and federal taxes) of the first bonus installment via a deduction from their annual leave payout and/or remit payment of any remaining balance within thirty (30) days following separation of employment from the County*** FLSA: Exempt EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in human services, social services, social work, or related field. 2 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Licensed Clinical Social Worker and/or Licensed Professional Counselor accreditations are preferred. Valid driver's license. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Positions in this class typically require, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions. Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work. WORKING CONDITIONS: Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, intense noises, and travel. Work is performed in an inherently stressful environment and involves risks to personal safety with possible exposure to blood borne and air borne pathogens in working environment.
