Description
The Vice President for the Division for Economic and Workforce Development/ Continuing Education is responsible for development, organization, administration, and supervision of short-term workforce training and degree programs that are designed to respond to the needs of students, businesses and industries in Henderson and Transylvania Counties. The Division consists of the following program areas: Public Safety Training (Fire, Law, and EMS), Advanced Technologies, Career and Technical Education, Skilled Trades and , Personal Community Enrichment, Continuing Education, Cooperative Education, Corporate and Customized Training (including Apprenticeships), Human Resource Development, NC Works Career Center, and the Environmental Health Safety Institute (EHSI). This Vice President is also responsible for building and maintaining relationships with the community in all disciplines. Examples of Duties
Plan, develop, supervise, and evaluate all programs within the administrative scope of the Vice President for Economic and Workforce Development/Continuing Education. Direct development of schedule of courses for continuing education and curriculum to include course offerings, staffing and facilities scheduling. Collaborate with senior leaders to coordinate marketing, recruiting, student access, career development and program assessment Develop, monitor and plan effective utilization of budget resources for the division. Oversee budget for programs and functions assigned to the Division to ensure educational and financial reports and records are completed and submitted appropriately and in a timely manner. Seek out external funding opportunities that support the mission of the College. Report and provide oversight on grants and institutional support funding related to areas of responsibility. Ensure compliance with policies of the College, NC Community College System and applicable state and federal agencies. Represent the College at appropriate meetings, activities and conferences. Assist economic development agencies in both counties, including recruiting businesses to the area., and identify opportunities for growth in the region. Work with industry and community partners to develop and align programs with workforce needs. Actively participate in community driven events sponsored by the local economic development groups, chambers and workforce boards. Collaborate with the local secondary public education agencies for program and course delivery. Cooperate with other administrators and staff on special tasks of benefit to the total operation of the College. Serve as a member of the President's Leadership Team and President's Council. Evaluate the performance of personnel reporting directly to the Vice President and ensure proper administrative functions of the division. Establish positive relationships between the College and community in all disciplines and identify opportunities to connect the College. Participate in and/or lead strategic plan initiatives as assigned. Willingness to learn all aspects and areas of the College. Serve as the College's primary liaison to the NCCCS on all economic and workforce development/continuing education matters. Implement College policies and procedures. Serve on committees in support of the College's mission. Perform other tasks as assigned by the the Executive Vice President of Programs Qualifications
Education : Master's degree from an accredited college or university, doctorate preferred
Experience:
Seven years of progressive responsibility in higher education administration. Proven success in leading people, managing change, strategic planning, measuring results and effective budgeting in a complex work environment. Job-specific Characteristics and Skills Required:
At least seven years of progressively responsible experience in higher education administration, with proven results in leading/managing people, tasks and budgets in a complex work environment. Experience in college-level instruction, teaching in a community college setting preferred. Ability to conduct long-range planning relative to instructional and training programs which achieve designated goals and objectives. Experience in working with community and business leaders and promoting institutional programs. A leadership style that is collaborative, visionary, innovative, and open. Possess a broad knowledge of educational best practices in community colleges and a demonstrated commitment to the continuous improvement and professional development of College faculty and staff. A commitment to program assessment and the institutional effectiveness planning process. Knowledge of accreditation standards; experience with reaccreditation preferred. Active involvement in professional associations related to the position.
Knowledge and Skills:
Possess strong personal and professional integrity, effective verbal and written communication skills, and a commitment to safety. Proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite or similar products, database systems, College email and website, and other computer applications associated with the position.
