Occupational Summary

Objective: The CNC Programmer is responsible for creating and optimizing CNC programs for basic machining operations. This entry-level position involves learning and applying CNC programming techniques, collaborating with machinists and engineers, and ensuring high-quality manufacturing. The CNC Programmer will develop foundational skills in CNC programming and machining processes while contributing to the efficiency and quality of production operations. Work is closely managed. Essential Functions (Duties and Responsibilities)

A) Develop and test CNC programs for basic parts using CAD/CAM software. B) Ensure programs meet quality standards and follow design specifications. C) Assist machinists in setting up CNC machines and performing initial test runs. D) Learn and apply best practices for tool selection, speeds, and feeds. E) Read and interpret basic engineering drawings and blueprints. F) Verify that CNC programs adhere to design specifications and tolerances. G) Conduct initial inspections and validate machining processes under supervision. H) Work with the quality assurance team to address any discrepancies. I) Identify and suggest opportunities to improve machining processes and reduce cycle times. J) Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and apply best practices. K) Engage in training programs to develop CNC programming and machining skills. L) Learn from senior programmers and machinists to build technical expertise. M) Work closely with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure smooth workflow and communication. N) Assist in project planning and provide input on manufacturability and process optimization. O) Maintain records of CNC programs, setup sheets, and process instructions. P) Update and manage the CNC program library as needed. Q) Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications

Education & Qualification

- Associate degree or certification in CNC programming, manufacturing technology, or a related field OR 3 years of experience in CNC programming or machining, preferably in a manufacturing environment in lieu of degree. Work Experience

- Technical knowledge: Basic proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., Mastercam, SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor). Basic knowledge of G-code and M-code programming. Understanding of fundamental machining processes and tool selection. Professional Skills

- Ability to generate written communication and to operate required office equipment. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Effective communication and teamwork abilities. Attention to detail and commitment to quality. Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes. Behavioral Skills
