Joseph and Judith Conda STEAM Education Center This position is responsible for the organization and execution of the educational strategies and curriculum for the Joseph and Judith Conda STEAM Education Center in conjunction with the Assistant Director. Creative, knowledgeable, team-oriented, and dependable educator who enjoys working with people. Passionate about learning and teaching science, technology, engineering, arts, and math curriculum. Strong public speaking, organizational, and interpersonal skills are required. The STEAM Educator will demonstrate a commitment to treating all individuals with respect, recognizing each person's value, and, wherever possible, ensuring accessibility in all aspects of their work.

Mazza Museum

This position will work with the Assistant Director on the planning, organization, and direct management of key educational strategies and curriculum for the Mazza Museum and satellite galleries. The Education Manager serves as the premier contact for school tours and assists with the recruitment and management of volunteers, graduate assistants, student workers, and educational committees.

Essential Functions

This position requires regular attendance in the office, Museum, Art Room, STEAM Center, and Planetarium environments.

Educational Programming 1. Co-develops educational content in alignment with state standards to accommodate tours of the Mazza Museum and Conda STEAM Center based on the curriculum needs at the primary, secondary, and university levels. 2. Assists the Assistant Director with Funday Sunday events. 3. Assists with Mazza Summer Camps and STEAM Center-affiliated clubs and camps and activity kits. 4. Creates art projects and curriculum-based activities that directly correlate with guest authors/illustrators, and exhibitions. 5. Contributes to docent training and enrichment. 6. Assists in recruiting volunteers, including graduate assistants and Mazza student employees. 7. Assists with the Mazza Weekend Conference. 8. Maintains data collection and analysis for Mazza Museum and STEAM Center. 9. Is the primary contact for teachers scheduling student tours and coordinates Mazza's school tour calendar. 10. Assists in the Havens Resource Center with study kits, informational binders for exhibits, and maintenance of the resource collection. 11. Assist the Senior Director of development with stewardship opportunities for donors. 12. Performs all other duties deemed appropriate for this position.

Supervisory Responsibility This position assists in the supervisory responsibilities of roughly two-hundred (200) volunteers and docents. •Mazza/STEAM Center Graduate Assistants •Student workers and High School volunteers •Mazza volunteers

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time, year-round position. The role requires the employee to be in-office, Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm. However, evening work is often required and weekend responsibilities are to be expected.

Physical Demands While performing the responsibilities of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. The employee is frequently required to be on their feet for up to five (5) hours at a time; stand; walk; sit; reach with arms and hands; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; move or lift at least 25 pounds. This position also requires the ability to lift, move and organize bins of art supplies throughout the museum, STEAM Center, Art room, Malcolm Dining Hall, Great Hall, and within indoor and outdoor storage. The employee must be able to lift files and open filing cabinets while bending or standing, as necessary.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time 12-month position, and general hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., including evening and weekend responsibilities.

Work Environment of this Job While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions; and required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including a lab coat, safety glasses/goggles, and/or gloves. Employee may be required to use various chemicals with Material Safety Data Sheets provided. Employee may be required to use high voltage electricity. Employee may need to use very hot or very cold liquids. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Travel Some travel is required for this position. Off-site educational events, presentations, speaking events, and many community outreach events. A valid US Drivers' license with a safe driving record is required.

Required Education and Experience 1. Bachelor's degree. 2. Three years of relative office experience. 3. The Education Manager must be a "self-starter" and work with little or no supervision. 4. Classroom teaching experience. 5. Experience in designing educational programming for K-12 and college students.

Preferred Education and Experience 1. Master's degree. 2. Active engagement in the arts and education sectors. 3. Prior experience working with volunteers. 4. Familiarity with museum-based programming, inquiry-based and student-centered teaching methods, and positive youth development models; exposure in either Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, or Mathematics. Knowledge of effective STEAM teaching techniques is beneficial.
