JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB GOAL

To provide leadership, direction, and monitoring for the implementation of curriculum and instruction throughout the School District of Manatee County in grades K-12.

QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree from an accredited university in Educational Leadership, Administration/Supervision, or related content field. Possess a valid Florida Teaching Certificate Five years of increasingly responsible experience in classroom teaching, experience in using technology in the classroom, and experience in providing professional development to faculty and staff. At least one year in a leadership role at the school or district level (i.e., district specialist, school-based coordinator, dean) preferred. KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge in literacy, mathematics, science, and technology curricula and instructional best practices. Knowledge of Florida's Standards as related to applicable content areas. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in written and oral forms using positive interpersonal skills. Demonstrates masterful presentation skills that include deep knowledge of content and the capability to engage adult learners. Ability to initiate and sustain good working relationships with diverse groups of individuals.

SUPERVISES:

Curriculum and Instruction Specialists

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervise and coordinate instructional programs for the district's schools. Train and support literacy coaches, math coaches, teachers and administrators in content, instructional best practices, and curriculum initiatives. Market and advocate for Instructional Services programs such as Acaletics, AVID, AICE, IB, and Dual Enrollment. Collaborate with the Instructional Services administrators to increase student performance. Initiate the process for the selection of district adopted academic instructional materials and provide a recommendation to district leaders. Coordinate and monitor the district's core instructional materials of academic programs. Evaluate academic programs and their effect on student achievement. Support curriculum specialists with development of instructional frameworks, curriculum documents, and district assessments centered on developmentally appropriate learning progressions in specific content areas. Plan and deliver professional development around Curriculum/Instruction initiatives. Routinely evaluate growth and effectiveness of Instructional Services contracts with the Directors of Elementary and Secondary Education. Arrange, organize, and facilitate trainings and school fidelity visits. Establish and maintain a presence in the schools to support achievement of job goal. Work collaboratively with schools and district administrators. Complete all required reports in a timely manner. Coordinate with the district Charter School contact to promote student achievement. Work collaboratively with the Director of Professional Learning in planning and organizing professional development for instruction/curriculum. Work collaboratively with the following departments: Federal Programs, Assessment and Accountability, ELL, and ESE. Analyze data as required and necessary. Provide monthly updates to the Executive Director of Curriculum & Professional Learning. Provide leadership to assure correlation between district curriculum and state standards. Perform other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Light work. Exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently as needed to move objects.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District's approved compensation plan. Length of work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the District.

Performance on this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.
