University Of Illinois Springfield Admissions Evaluator
Located in the state capital, the University of Illinois Springfield is one of three members of the University of Illinois system. The University serves more than 4,000 students in 44 graduate and 56 undergraduate programs. In addition to many other duties, serves as one of the primary contacts for evaluating admissions materials for purposes of admitting or denying students to the University. Duties & Responsibilities: Evaluates credentials for admission (domestic, foreign, military, ACE recommended) and evaluates and processes changes of curriculum/add certificate program; primary consideration given to transfer evaluations and follow-through, but is also cross-trained to evaluate students at all levels. Utilizes the Student Information System for entering and updating data for students (prior college, UIS academic record, biographical, demographic, etc.). Advises applicants, students, staff, and faculty regarding admission, residency, and degree requirements; resolves admission and credit transfer problems of students. Generates correspondence to applicants regarding credentials analysis (foreign and domestic) and alternative admissions. Acts as liaison with program representatives regarding admission, academic program prerequisites, and other matters. Researches international institutions for assistance with international evaluations. Reviews and updates applicant files, determines what is needed for registration purposes, and places/removes holds. Assists with the processing of applications when necessary. Other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: 1. High school diploma or equivalent. 2. Any one or combination totaling three (3) years (36 months) from the categories below: A. Course work in any discipline as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent: -30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months) -60 semester hours or an Associate's Degree equals eighteen months (18 months) -90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months) -120 semester hours or a Bachelor's degree equals three (3) years (36 months) B. Work experience in administrative support, admissions and enrollment, customer service, public relations, records management, or closely related experience. Preferred Qualifications: Keyboarding/computer, customer service, and problem-solving skills. Experience in a professional office environment or higher education preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Must be a highly detailed-oriented individual. Must be personable and able to greet people coming into the office. Preferred computer skills Word, Excel, and Access.
