Kennedys, an international law firm with offices throughout the United States, seeks a full-time Legal Assistant/Secretary to join its Miami office. Our ideal candidate will assist attorneys with all aspects of litigation including discovery, court filings and trial preparation.
Key Responsibilities Preparing preliminary pleadings, i.e. notices of appearance/email designations, deposition notices, motions for extensions, discovery pleadings and assist attorneys with removal from state to federal court filings and service of discovery Intake of all incoming correspondence and court filings, including saving into file appropriately and calendaring all deadlines without supervision Schedule depositions, hearings, and conferences. Will be solely responsible for routine follow ups for each, and coordinating/finalizing with counsel and court reporters Ability to maintain calendar of hearings, appointments, mediations, depositions, meetings, and deadlines for several managing partners and associates Required Experience
Minimum 4 years of experience in insurance defense and coverage litigation Superior organizational skills, the ability to handle a fast-paced environment, multitask, pay strict attention to detail and take initiative to ensure all tasks are completed in a timely manner with minimal errors is required Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite (advanced Word, Excel and Outlook) Effective communication skills and ability to proactively manage assignments Thorough working knowledge of and experience with e-filing portals for counties across the state of Florida and federal courts Knowledge of iManage and/or ChromeRiver highly preferred
