Process Mechanical Design Engineer

Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever. Join Micron as a Process Mechanical Design Engineer and be part of an exceptionally dedicated team leading the way in semiconductor manufacturing. This outstanding opportunity allows you to coordinate the design and implementation of world-class process mechanical systems, ensuring flawless performance and compliance with industry standards. Responsibilities: Coordinate third-party design firms in developing process mechanical systems, including process piping (e.g., for gases, chemicals, or water), conveyance and industrial equipment (e.g., pumps, compressors, heat exchangers). Review and validate third-party design work, such as piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), equipment specifications, and system layouts, ensuring compliance with project requirements and standards (e.g., ASME B31.3, ASHRAE, SEMI S2). Conduct technical evaluations of third-party designs, verifying performance metrics such as flow rates, pressure, thermal efficiency, and system reliability. Work together with external design teams, contractors, vendors, and internal collaborators to align process mechanical system designs with facility requirements and project timelines. Perform quality assurance and risk assessments on third-party designs, identifying and resolving issues related to constructability, efficiency, or compliance with industry standards and regulations. Ensure third-party designs integrate seamlessly with other facility systems, such as Ultra-Pure Water (UPW), chemical, or gas systems, using Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools for coordination. Coordinate the implementation of safety and regulatory protocols for process mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, and local codes (e.g., International Mechanical Code, NFPA). Support commissioning and testing phases by reviewing third-party design performance and coordinating with vendors for equipment validation and system startup. Apply BIM tools (e.g., Revit, Navisworks) and control systems (e.g., PLC, SCADA) to confirm design interoperability and maintain operational efficiency. Offer technical support to third-party designers, ensuring alignment with standard methodologies and advancements in process mechanical system technologies. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience. Advanced certifications (e.g., PE, LEED AP, CMfgE) are a plus. Lead all aspects of design processes for process piping, HVAC, or industrial equipment for 2+ years. Strong knowledge of process mechanical system design, including process piping, HVAC systems, and equipment for industrial applications in high-tech or manufacturing facilities. Familiarity with industry standards and regulations, such as ASME B31.3, ASHRAE, SEMI S2/S6, IFGC (International Fuel Gas Code), and International Mechanical Code (IMC). Proficiency in reviewing engineering work, including P&IDs, 3D models, and specifications, using tools like AutoCAD, Revit, or Navisworks. Preferred Qualifications: Experience coordinating third-party designs for semiconductor, pharmaceutical, or data center facilities with stringent process mechanical system requirements. Knowledge of balanced design practices, such as energy-efficient HVAC systems or process optimization for reduced resource consumption. Experience in facilities system modeling and analysis to include PSA (Pipe Stress Analysis) and system hydraulics using PipeFlo. Familiarity with clash detection and design integration processes using BIM tools. Experience with control systems (e.g., PLC, SCADA) and BIM workflows for design coordination is highly desirable.
