Position Overview
We are seeking an
Epic Web and Services Server (WSS) Administrator
to manage and support the web and service infrastructure that underpins Epic applications, APIs, and integration services. This role ensures secure, reliable, and high-performing access for mobile apps, patient portals (MyChart), provider applications, and third-party integrations using Epic Interconnect and Web BLOB services. The ideal candidate will have strong Epic technical administration experience, a background in server/web application administration, and Epic
WSS certification
(or ability to obtain within 6 months). Key Responsibilities System Administration & Maintenance Install, configure, and maintain Epic Web and Services Servers (WSS) across environments (production, test, and development). Manage Epic Interconnect services to support APIs, FHIR, and HL7 interfaces. Support MyChart, Haiku, Canto, Rover, and other Epic web/mobile application access. Maintain SSL/TLS certificates, load balancers, DNS, and security settings for Epic web services.
Performance Monitoring & Optimization Monitor service performance, availability, and throughput across WSS environments. Troubleshoot and resolve issues impacting APIs, mobile apps, and portal performance. Work with Epic TS (Technical Services) and infrastructure teams to optimize configurations.
Security & Compliance Ensure Epic WSS infrastructure meets HIPAA, HITRUST, and organizational security requirements. Manage access controls, firewalls, and audit logs for Epic web and services servers. Implement patches and upgrades in alignment with IT security policies.
Upgrades & Testing Plan, coordinate, and execute WSS upgrades and Epic release updates. Participate in integrated system testing (IST) and validation of mobile/portal applications. Document procedures, configurations, and operational standards.
Collaboration & Support Partner with application analysts, integration teams, and server/network engineers to support cross-functional projects. Provide Tier 3 escalation support for WSS-related issues impacting end-users or integrated partners. Contribute to disaster recovery planning and testing for Epic services infrastructure.
Qualifications
Education/Certification: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred. Epic Web and Services Server (WSS) certification
required Epic Client Systems Administrator (ECSA) certification preferred.
Experience: 3+ years administering Epic infrastructure or web application servers. Hands-on experience with
Epic WSS, Interconnect, IIS, load balancing, SSL certificates, and security hardening
. Familiarity with APIs, FHIR, and web services integration in healthcare.
Skills: Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across multi-tiered environments. Knowledge of networking, firewalls, and Active Directory integration. Excellent communication and documentation skills for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting Epic
MyChart
and mobile apps (Haiku, Canto, Rover). Familiarity with
Epic Bridges or Cloverleaf
