Job Title: Quality Certifications Specialist Location: Golden Valley, MN Hours/Schedule: Type: Contract Overview The Certifications Specialist is responsible for assuring compliance of third-party claims and certifications. This Certifications Specialist position is a technical expert for Kosher, Halal, Non-GMO, Fair Trade, Certified Gluten Free, RSPO, Whole 30, & Paleo, with emphasis on Organic. A large portion of time is spent advising teams on requirements for certification and interfacing externally with certifiers and vendors. Responsibilities Provide global claims and certification expertise and collaborate cross-functionally to leverage certifications to give company a competitive advantage in the marketplace. Serve as a resource for the plant certification process and lead the corporate portion of audits by third party certifiers. Assure accurate reporting to certifiers as required. Partner with Labeling to guide the product development process (new and reformulated products) to ensure claims/certifications and business requirements are met. Manage multiple projects simultaneously, providing input on timelines of projects. Oversee the development and maintenance of documentation (e.g. ingredient information, final formula, mock labels, plant documents) to assure compliance with regulations (USDA Organic), third-party certification standards (non-GMO project, GFCO, etc.) and company policies. Collaborate with Certification Specialists to minimize business disruption through effective issues resolution. Build and maintain strong relationships with certifying organizations to facilitate product submissions, new plant/line certification, and issues resolution. Collaborate on ideas for process and system simplification and standardization. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Labeling or related field 1-3+ years of experience in regulatory, quality and/or product commercialization Basic understanding of product commercialization process from product design to manufacturing Good interpersonal and communication skills required to effectively network face-to-face with business teams High level of professionalism and ability to represent GMI externally Proficient in Microsoft Office and SharePoint Benefits System One offers eligible employees health and welfare benefits coverage options, including medical, dental, vision, spending accounts, life insurance, voluntary plans, and participation in a 401(k) plan.
