Overview

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows company standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. Tasks are performed as assigned during all working hours and may include a range of functions in all areas of the Store as needed. Additional tasks may be assigned to support customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

• Safety is the number one priority; practice safe behaviors in everything you do.
• Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe, secure shopping environment. Keep egress clear to emergency exits and report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
• Treat Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; be friendly and professional at all times. Recognize fellow Associates using Company recognition programs.
• Assist Customers as needed — register-trained, assist with merchandise, and answer questions politely and knowledgeably. Greet Customers with eye contact, a smile, and a "hello"; say "thank you" at every register transaction.
• Provide prompt, efficient responses to Customers and handle issues in a courteous and helpful way; involve Store Leadership when needed.
• Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
• Perform cleaning tasks (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters and mirrors) and replenish restroom supplies; disinfect high-touch areas to maintain store hygiene.
• Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to the Company's dress code.
• Performs daily sizing and recovery to keep the store neat, clean, and well merchandised to standards.
• Expedite newly received merchandise to the sales floor, merchandise items per guidelines, and maintain brand familiarity within departments to assist Customers.
• Understand Loss Prevention Awareness, the Shortage Highway, Store Protection Specialist (where applicable), and merchandise protection standards.
• Demonstrate integrity and honesty in all interactions; safeguard confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
• Follow MOS policies for identification, processing, and disposal of MOS merchandise; adhere to cash, check, credit card, refund transactions, voids, and offline procedures with accuracy.
• Maximize productivity by following Store best practices and minimizing unnecessary steps.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

• Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful manner.
• Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers, and PC as required.
• Ability to stand, walk, and move around the Store up to 100% of working time.
• Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop; ability to push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
• Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders, and other assigned supplies.
• Some shifts may require other qualifications and skills; Stockroom shifts may require lifting more than 20 pounds.
