Job Purpose: The Corporate Controller is responsible for overseeing financial operations within the group, ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective budgeting, and financial forecasting. The role involves oversight and support of the finance teams at the operating companies including the coordination of reporting. The Corporate Controller will work closely with the CFO to implement financial controls to optimize profitability and to implement process improvement for operational efficiency.

Essential Functions include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Manage all accounting operations, including AP, AR, GL, Cost Accounting, Inventory Accounting.
  • Manage the reporting of monthly financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Manage the annual budget process.
  • Design and implement improvements to move to a 15-month rolling budget/forecast.
  • Execute month-end and year-end accounting processes finding ways to improve accuracy and automate the closing process.
  • Review of monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Responsible for management and expansion of DataRails as a financial reporting tool.
  • Design and implement additional financial reports to better support the business both at the group and operating company level.
  • Coordinate the timing and complete the requirements for the annual audit.
  • Review and implement improvements to product costing in coordination with VP of Engineering and CFO.
  • Establish, implement and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with GAAP.
  • Implement capital expenditure review and approval process.
  • Identify and implement improvements is usage of ERP system which better support operations.
  • Manager the transition to a single ERP system as identified by the businesses.
  • Manage improvement projects through to successful completion.
  • Assist with requests for financial information that are cascaded down from Investment Company team.
  • Build and foster strong cross-functional relationships across the business.
  • Mentor the finance team across the operating companies providing training and development opportunities to enhance the skills and capabilities of the finance organization.
  • Model the highest ethical standards and behaviors as a leader in the organization.
  • Assist in hiring, developing and retaining skilled accounting staff.

  • Bachelors degree in accounting with 10+ years of accounting experience.
  • 2+ years in public accounting.
  • 3+ years Controller-level experience (managing staff that report into you).
  • CPA/MBA preferred but not required.
  • Excellent understanding of US GAAP.
  • Must be proficient in ERP software, Office products, and able to manage and interpret large amounts of data.
  • Experience with Global Shop Solutions is preferred, but not required.
  • Demonstrated understanding of cost accounting in a manufacturing environment.
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills (verbal, non-verbal, written).
  • Possess a high level of critical thinking.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and the ability to complete tasks with limited support staff.
  • Operates with a high level of professionalism and integrity.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of accounting and personnel records.
